Why We Use Intentionally Curated Subcontract Crews
In the roofing industry, there’s an ongoing debate around whether it’s better to use in-house employees or subcontracted crews. At Advanced Roofing & Sheet Metal, we take a clear position: intentionally curated subcontracted crews provide more specialized, accountable, and reliable performance — especially for the high-end custom homes we service.
Most of our crews have worked with us for over five years, and were directly trained or vetted through a detailed interview and documentation process. Each crew specializes in a specific roofing system — whether it’s shingles, standing seam steel, or flat roofing. This focused expertise allows us to deliver higher quality results compared to “jack-of-all-trades” in-house teams that may lack deep knowledge in any one system.
Our subcontracted crews also collaborate exceptionally well on complex builds with multiple roofing systems. It’s common on custom cottages for one crew to begin the install, another to tie in a different section, and then the original crew to return for final detailing — all without missing a beat. This seamless integration is made possible by a strong working relationship built over years, and all work is overseen and inspected by our in-house project managers to ensure it meets our uncompromising standards.
